Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is the most preferred wildlife sanctuary in the Jharkhand which is worth to explore. The sanctuary is spread in the catchment area of Subarnarekha River and adjoining Purulia District of West Bengal, with an area of 193.22 Sq. Km. The highest peak of Dalma Hills is 987 m above sea level. National Highway No. 18 (Earlier NH-33) runs parallel to Dalma Range. The main entrance to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is at Saherbera 10 km from Chandil and 15 km from Dimna Chowk. From the entrance, you have to travel 15 km further to reach the Hill Top.

Activities

There are small hideouts within the sanctuary to view the wild animals in their natural habitat. Here is some useful information about Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary for tourists. Leopard, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Sloth Bear, Monkey, Giant Squirrel are abundant here. The sanctuary is an ideal spot for trekkers. At Hilltop, there are temples of Lord Shiva and Hanuman, where a large number of devotees flock during the festival of Shivratri.

Accommodation

Accommodation conveniences are available in the forest guest house. The best time to visit is from October to June. Bookings can be made from the Forest Range Office, near Payal Talkies, Mango, Jamshedpur. The forest rest house at Pindrabera is located at such a place that from its roof and terraces one can have a bird’s eye view of distant points including steel city of Jamshedpur.
